Everyone at Staffing Plus have been fantastic - helping me to navigate this new chapter in my mother’s life. The carers have been reliable, professional and very empathetic; my requests for help have been met in a timely manner and the service has been really personal and bespoke. We are really very grateful for the support provided to us by Dinah and her team.
Dinah and her team at Staffing Plus cared for my uncle as he was suffering from terminal cancer. My uncle did not want to move to a care home, so Dinah arranged an excellent care package for him at his own bungalow. Dinah and the care staff looked after him 24 hours a day working closely with the palliative care team. We found the staff very caring and compassionate and they treated my uncle with such respect and dignity during his last days. We are very grateful to Dinah and the Staffing Plus team and cannot thank them enough.
My Dad had decided to trial a residential care home to see if this would meet his needs as he was missing social interaction being at home so much. When this was being planned staffing Plus were very helpful and made sure that the care was on standby for 2 weeks to ensure Dad had made a definite decision. We had no hidden costs or prolonged contracts to deal with and everything was done in consideration of my Dad and his best interests.

How do I ensure I get a carer who is right for me?

How many hours care will my loved one need?
Every person’s needs are different. We work closely with other health care professionals as well as families to ensure the right plan of care is put in place. These plans are flexible as people’s needs can change. Sometimes people only need a few hours care a week but over time this may change to a few hours a day or to a longer term live in care package. We will always work with you to adapt to your changing needs.

What happens when my carer needs time off?
We know the importance of continuity of care and we will always try to place a suitable respite carer to support you during your carers time off. Often your longer term carer will spend many weeks at a time with you between their breaks. During their time off we always aim to provide you with someone you have met before but if this is not possible we offer you the same introductory process of spending time with your new carer before committing to their placement.

How much does care at home cost?
The cost of home care varies across the UK and is based upon the level of care you need. Hourly care costs may vary to live in care costs but once we assess your needs we would put together a costed care plan for you. There are no two costed care plans alike, but , a general price range for hourly care costs can range between £25-£31 per hour (2024) and live in care can start from £1,295 per week upwards dependent upon the needs of care provided.

Can I get any help for the costs of home care?
If you are assessed by your local authority as having eligible needs you would be offered a financial assessment to work out how much you should contribute towards your care. There are thresholds for savings and assets and above these you would have to pay for your own care. At the current time (2024-2025) these thresholds are; England: £23,250 Wales: £24,000 Northern Ireland and Scotland: Personal care at home is free to those who have been assessed by their local authority as needing it. Are there any other sources of financial support available?
In some circumstances the NHS continuing healthcare (CHC) will pay your care costs at home. This funding is for people needing ongoing health care where they have complex medical care needs. In some cases you may be eligible for up to six weeks of NHS funded care at home following discharge from hospital, this is called NHS Intermediate Care.
