Our supported living services for younger adults provides 24/7 support for people over the age of eighteen with varied and complex needs. The decision about whether someone lives alone or with housemates should be based on their assessed needs, wishes and compatibility with others.
Supported Living
The benefits of supported living are the choices and independence this gives to individuals. People hold their own tenancy and have responsibility for their bills, outings and holidays which offers control in their day to day lives.
People in Supported Living may be entitled to:
Attendance Allowance (AA)
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Housing Benefit (HB)
Mobility Allowance
Personal Independence Payments (PIP)
Staffing Plus maintains a person centred approach and an ethos of empowering our service users to live their lives to the full. Those who use our services are seen as unique individuals and our staff acknowledge this individuality. We work alongside our service users and other involved family and professionals to enable a positive and rewarding lifestyle where people’s life goals and ambitions are kept at the fore.
Are Our Services Regulated?
We work closely with Local Authority`s and in some cases a local Health Board. We are also regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England. The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They make sure that health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high- quality care services and continually monitor and inspect these services encouraging continual improvement.
As a service we are transparent and embrace self-appraisal in order to continually improve. Through our own internal quality assurance auditing process we look at areas where we can continually improve and develop. One of the key areas involves continually listening to the people who use our services as they are at the heart of who we are. Some of the comments received at a recent audit include feedback such as;
“I have achieved more since being here than at any other of my placements”
“I am being helped to know how to live on my own and it feels awesome”
People who may come from a residential care setting into a supported living environment may feel a little overwhelmed initially. They are living a more independent life which they may not have been used to. Our staff team sit down with people and together they create a living support plan. The staff are available throughout the early transition and throughout the individuals residency. Our team work with people whilst ensuring the constant encouragement for those people to live as independently as they choose.
