Respite care offers a temporary package of care in the comfort of your or your loved ones own home. It offers a continuity of care in situations such as a sudden change in health needs, following an injury or accident, when caregivers take a break, or, when care is needed following discharge from hospital.
Respite home care can range from a few days to a several weeks. We will work with you in providing the package of care that you or your loved ones need.
This care may be required urgently or planned for in the future.
Respite Care is put into place for situations such as:
A primary caregiver requiring some recovery time themselves, maybe after illness or surgery
A primary carer taking a planned holiday or mini break
Post-operative convalescence and rehabilitation
Additional care at home to facilitate a quick and supported hospital discharge
Supporting an individual in a crisis or through a difficult event
The benefits of Respite Care
The comfort of familiar surroundings has proven benefits to an individual’s health and wellbeing. It can be a traumatic experience for anyone to uproot and leave the comfort of their home, especially for the elderly and vulnerable.
Maintaining independence is important to us all and often the fear of losing our independence can be a major concern. With support in our own home we can maintain our routines and lifestyle. A home carer will be available as and when you need them which can give the re assurance of knowing someone is there at the times you choose and not when you have to fit into others schedules.
Live in and respite care costs are often similar, if not less, to those of staying in a care home. Care home costs can be higher according to an individual’s needs. Even for a residential low support care package the costs can be similar to care at home, therefore, care at home may be a cost effective decision as well as providing your continued home comforts.
Peace of mind for you and your family is important, knowing that your family and friends can call by at any time can be a very reassuring thought. Both respite and live in care provide this peace of mind. You may wish to continue tending to a much loved garden, access your own kitchen as and when you want, or , to make sure you are able to keep a beloved pet with you at home. Care at home offers the reassurance, security and freedom to stay in control of familiar surroundings.
Respite and live in care can offer companionship when people experience loneliness or vulnerability. The rapport that is built between carer and client can be paramount to the personalised care service given to a client. Having one to one support means there is more time to really get to know each other and often a real bond is formed. Our carers respect individuals choices, wishes and preferences at all times and this remains at the heart of the care service we provide.
